It’s the first week after New Year’s Day, the most popular time of the year for resolutions. Many recommit to a healthy lifestyle after a holiday season binge that began sometime around Halloween and ended just before bed last night. Snug pants, sluggish energy levels and nagging inflammation leave millions ready to get back to a healthy routine.

The hard part is not committing to change, it’s sustaining it.

When you are traveling and hunger is flying high, most airport options will come in sandwich form. Saturday night party buffets are a conga line of sugary, cheesy, puffy food that will leave you feeling puffy. It’s always somebody’s birthday with cake at the office, and happy hour often turns into happy evening which will not leave you happy. You will not be able to sustain change without a plan, and preparedness is the key.

At Steve’s PaleoGoods, we believe that people can only attain what they can maintain. Anyone can make a change for a day, a week or even a month, but facing February 1 with January dedication takes action. The key to reaching health and fitness goals is finding solutions for the resolutions.

REAL FOOD
Eating around a bunch of rules can be exhausting. Not only do you have to adopt a new lifestyle, but you have to educate yourself on “eat this, not that.” This year, we suggest you take the guess work and the education out of it. Just eat real food! Meat, seafood, eggs, veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds and healthy oils are all single-ingredient, real foods.

When you are hungry, eat just whole unprocessed foods until you are full. If you are going to eat food that comes in a wrapper, be sure to check the deck for ingredients you are not interested in. All of Steve’s PaleoGoods are sourced from 100% paleo ingredients with no junk added. Feel safe shopping with us.

MAKE AND TAKE
The only way to truly know what’s in your food is to make it and take it with you. Restaurant food and take out options are often laden with chemicals and added fats. By cooking for yourself you will always know for certain what is going in your food and how it was prepared. Designate one day a week for meal prep, and consider recruiting friend to create a meal swap.

Before you meal prep, shop the edges of the grocery store for single ingredient foods. Load up on veggies, meat, healthy starches like sweet potatoes and squash and fruit. Stop by the frozen foods section and load up on frozen fruits and vegetables before you head to checkout.

SPLURGE
Don’t go the entire month of January without eating foods you love. If you don’t want to go off-plan, treat yourself to a special meal. Shop for a high-quality steak, seafood and your favorite seasonal veggies. Take extra time to prepare it just right. Turn off that cell phone, light a candle and enjoy your special meal with someone you love. Remind yourself you don’t have to eat off plan to truly enjoy food.

TASTE
Boring food makes one BORED. Recipes are great if you are diligent enough to follow them and have ingredients on hand. You can also achieve variety by having staples in your arsenal to make every meal deliciously paleo. Varieties of vegetables and fresh herbs can make an ordinary side extra ordinary.

Check out the complete line up of PaleoChef sauces, dressings and marinades that combine herbs, spices, and fresh ingredients to create the perfect compliment to any meal.
