PaleoJerky: Meat. Spices. That’s it.

It’s the mission of Steve’s PaleoGoods to help you stay Paleo on-the-go, but what does it mean to GO PALEO? Sure, one could think about it as eating certain foods off a list, nothing more and nothing less. And while you could make a simple list of “eat this, not that,” we encourage anyone new to the movement or re-embracing the lifestyle to think of going paleo in a different light.

Think of the paleo lifestyle as a celebration of REAL FOOD AS FUEL and enjoying all of the benefits that go along with that commitment.

JUST EAT REAL FOOD
When you go paleo, your diet will consist of real food. Meat, seafood, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and healthy oils are all single-ingredient real, whole, unprocessed foods.

Think of added sugars, preservatives and chemicals you can not pronounce as ways for companies to mass produce sildenafil. When you are making a meal or buying a snack, it’s always best to start with the highest quality ingredients you can find and leave them as close to their natural state as possible.

As you leave the sugar, preservatives, and gluten-laden products behind, it’s an adjustment. Preparation is key. It’s best “make and take” meals with you each day, and stock up on our clean convenience options like PaleoStix and PaleoKits for when time is tight.

DITCH THE JUNK
Sugar is everywhere. Go on a hunt in your kitchen cabinet, and it won’t be hard to find. Check the deck on America’s favorite cereals, even the ones considered “healthy” contain things like modified cornstarch, corn syrup, dextrose, calcium carbonate, gelatin and artificial flavors and colors. As you check ingredients and plan meals, only include whole-food ingredients with nutritional value.

Swap your favorite peanut butter for our PaleoNutButter and you’ll taste the difference. Opt for a sweet potato instead of a white or red to keep your insulin levels on an even keel. Ditching highly processed calorically dense foods will reduce sugar cravings, spikes in your blood sugar, GI issues and systemic inflammation. The mantra is simple: JUST EAT REAL FOOD!

KNOW YOUR SOURCE
Read this next sentence very slowly. What you eat is just as important as where it comes from. Sadly, many conventionally raised meats come from animals that are fed hormones, antibiotics and chemicals that make them gain weight faster. If you don’t want hormones, antibiotics and chemicals in your body, it’s important not to ingest them second hand through your meat.

Checking the deck of ingredients only tells half of the story. In order for food to be as close to what nature intended, ingredients must be left in their natural state. Pulverizing nutrient-dense ingredients degrades nutritional value. Look for suppliers that are committed to minimally processing pure paleo ingredients.

We make, cut, mix and bake by hand at Steve’s PaleoGoods. There are no conveyor belts, assembly lines or machines to replace people power. We cut and weigh each bar, we bag our cereal by hand, and we trim, spice and roast our jerky in much the same way our ancestors did. We are proud to stand by our hand made promise.

CELEBRATE SUCCESS
When adopting a new behavior, everyone is quick to look for results. When you start eating real food, simply celebrate your commitment. Making a lifestyle change is never easy, but nothing worth it ever is.

Going Paleo is not as complex as it might seem. Remember the mantra and staying the course will be easy. JUST EAT REAL FOOD! As the days string together, not only will you see the results, you will FEEL them. Eating for optimum health is a gift that you give yourself, and the benefits will last a lifetime.
