Chinese Chicken Lettuce Cups 

These Chinese Chicken Lettuce Cups are a fun handheld meal the entire family will love! With only 5 ingredients (minus pantry staples) this meal is easy on your wallet and comes together in a flash. You’ll need:

  1. Ground Chicken
  2. Onion
  3. Water Chestnuts
  4. Mushrooms
  5. Bibb Lettuce

Pantry ingredients: coconut aminos, spices, sesame oil

Chinese Chicken Lettuce Cups 

Prep: 10 minutes   |   Cook: 20 minutes   | Total Time: 30 minutes   | Serves: 4


  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil (or coconut oil)
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried ginger
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 white onion, minced
  • 1 cup diced mushrooms
  • ¼ cup coconut aminos
  • 1 (8oz) can water chestnuts
  • Lettuce cups, for serving


  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the ground chicken to the pan and brown 4-5 minutes. Add in the salt, red pepper flakes, and ginger. Saute 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add the diced onion and mushroom to the pan, cook another 4-5 minutes until soft before adding in the coconut aminos. Once the aminos have been added cook 2-3 minutes until the sauce is reduced. Stir in the water chestnuts and serve in lettuce cups.
